Cyber Police MBVV Cracks Online Shopping Scam, Recovers ₹1.4 Lakh

Mira-Bhayandar, 20 July 2025 – In a commendable breakthrough, the Cyber Police of Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV), under the supervision of Senior Officer Shri Sandip Daifode, successfully cracked an online shopping fraud, recovering ₹1,40,000 and restoring it to the victim’s account.

Online Shopping Scam Exposed

The case involved a tech-savvy consumer who was duped while purchasing a mobile phone through an online platform. Despite making full payment, the product delivered was of inferior quality and mismatched value, exposing the fraudulent nature of the transaction.

Swift Action by Cyber Crime Branch

The Cyber Crime Branch MBVV registered a case immediately upon receiving the complaint. A prompt and detailed investigation led to the identification of the accused and successful recovery of ₹1.4 lakh, which was transferred back to the victim’s bank account.

In light of the incident, the Cyber Police MBVV issued a cybersecurity advisory for all citizens:
