Dacoity Plot Foiled in Vasai; 11 Hardened Criminals Arrested with Weapons
Vasai: The Crime Branch of Mira Bhayander Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate (Zone-2 Vasai) conducted a joint operation with local police in Manikpur, Waliv, and surrounding areas. They apprehended 11 hardened criminals who were planning to commit dacoity at a bungalow in Ram-Rahim Nagar, Vasai East.
The police received a tip-off that some young offenders armed with weapons were planning a clash in the area. The police team raided a spot near the Testaoria Chinese Center in Avershine City around 10 pm and caught the offenders at their hideout.
The arrested individuals were identified as Kumar Vikas Sabale (29), Irfanuddin Chaudhary (24), Kartik Singh (24), Gurupreet Singh (30), Kailash Sudam Chikhale (51), Vishnu Somanath Kharat (21), Sachin Bhalerao (26), Vikram Harijan (22), Ramjan Qureshi (24), Ganesh Bhasale (30), and Ganesh Jadhav (19).
The police seized a country-made pistol, four live cartridges, knives, choppers, axes, cutters, iron rods, plastic rope, cash, mobile phones, and other items worth approximately ₹1.77 lakh from the accused.
Police Inspector Avinash Karade stated that all the accused are habitual offenders with criminal records in various police stations. They revealed that they were part of an organized group planning the dacoity. Had the operation not been carried out in time, it could have led to major violence in the area. The operation prevented a major criminal incident.
The police have booked all the accused under the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act, and various sections of the Maharashtra Police Act. All the accused are currently in police custody, and their connections with other criminal networks are being investigated.
